Horned Parakeet

Eunymphicus cornutus

The Horned Parakeet is endemic to New Caledonia, which is located in the region of Melanesia in the southwest Pacific.

They live in pairs or small groups and feed on seeds and nuts, in humid pine forests. Their nests can be found in tree holes and on the ground, including under rocks.

The above picture was taken in the San Diego zoo, in March 2004.
