Yellow-band Angelfish

Pomacanthus maculosus

The Yellow-band or Yellowbar Angelfish lives in the Western Indian Ocean: Red Sea, Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman. The juvenile has several vertical white bars on its body against dark blue background, a pattern which is similar to most juvenile angelfishes. Adults can grow to about 50cm. It is usually encountered solitary. This angelfish is hermaphroditic, like most members of family Pomacanthidae.
