Mandrill

Mandrillus sphinx

The mandrill is one of the most colorful mammals. They live in Central Africa (in Cameroon, Congo, Equatorial Guinea, and Gabon), and feed on both plants and small animals (insects, snails, lizards, etc.). Among their predators can be leopards, snakes, and even chimpanzees.

The picture of this beautiful male was taken at the Pittsburgh zoo, in August 2002.
